Keystone Mourns Passing of Dede Hapner

Keystone Policy Center expresses our deep sadness and condolences for the passing of our dear friend, Dede Hapner, who died peacefully earlier this week. Dede was a longtime member of the Keystone Energy Board and treasured member of the Executive Committee of the Keystone Board of Trustees.

Dede first crossed paths with Keystone more than 25 years ago as a member of the Energy Board. She brought with her extensive experience in policy and regulatory relations having served in several officer assignments at Pacific Gas Electric Company. But she quickly became a true embodiment of Keystone’s mission. She knew how to build enduring relationships with individuals and groups on all sides of complex energy and sustainability issues. Her policy expertise, skilled convening experience, and warm character set an example for those who knew her to follow.

While serving in many roles for Keystone, including Energy Board Co-Chair and interim CEO, the role we cherish most from her is friend. She set a professional standard for us to aspire to while also being a beloved individual we were honored to count among our Keystone family. She was a champion of Keystone, and we are a champion of her, both in life and death. We love you and will miss you, Dede.
