Leadership Summit 2009
Leadership Summit equips Summit County leaders with the skills and relationships necessary to lead collaborative efforts, solving community problems and capitalizing on the next generation of opportunities for our county.
Leadership Summit is a nine-month leadership training program beginning September 2009. The mission of the program is to demonstrate that an engaged community can balance diverse interests and needs resulting in cooperative and effective planning and decision making.
Who should apply:
The class will represent a cross-section of private, public, and nonprofit sectors in Summit County. Leadership Summit looks for applicants who offer various combinations of this profile:
Emerging leaders who seek to develop their leadership character and skills
Curriculum
The early sessions have a strong emphasis on leadership development, helping participants identify their own leadership strengths and building skills to put those strengths to work at the individual, organizational and community level.
Community leaders conduct sessions that share their own lessons about leadership and present cases for the class to study. Issues to be addressed are listed in the class calendar. By using these issues as case studies, participants meet the community leaders working in these areas, have time to develop and test new approaches to addressing these issues, and share opportunities for individual involvement.
Participants will identify community-oriented projects to work on in teams over the course of the year.
