Small Teaching Groups
Each KSS instructor works with a teaching group of approximately 10 students and one school chaperone to maximize the amount of individual attention and instruction given to each student.
CASE Staff
The field instructors and administrative staffs are professional educators dedicated to teaching hands-on science in an outdoor setting. Each instructor has a Wilderness-Based medical certification.
Housing and Meals
Students stay in two modern dormitories with a capacity of 38 beds in each dorm. Living rooms are furnished with comfortable couches and chairs, and games for evening activities. Inside each dorm, bathrooms have showers and are clean and convenient. Meals consist of nutritious foods prepared by a professional chef. Each morning, students make their own lunches from a buffet table laden with sandwich makings, vegetables, and abundant snacks. All meals have a vegetarian option and special considerations are made for students with food allergies.
Program Fees
Program fees are $70 per student per 24-hour period. 1 chaperone per 10 students, plus one more adult is required to accompany each school group. Each of these chaperones is charged $35 per 24-hour period, with additional chaperones charged student rates. Most groups arrive and depart at noon. Program fees cover instruction, transportation, equipment, and materials, as well as lodging and all meals while at KSS. Scholarships are available for students in need. Please contact KSS regarding students that require financial assistance to attend.
