Based in Keystone, Colorado, The Keystone Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1975 to ensure that present and future generations approach environmental and scientific dilemmas and disagreements creatively and proactively.
The Keystone Center’s mission today is to equip citizens with deliberative frameworks, democratic processes, analytical information, and critical-thinking skills to navigate tough problems and develop solutions.
Through the Center for Science and Public Policy, the Center for Professional Education and Leadership and Keystone Science School, The Keystone Center positions itself to improve decisions about long-term issues by helping students learn, teachers teach and thought-leaders and decision-makers effectively address technically complex, politically uncertain situations.
The Keystone Center is headquartered in Keystone, Colorado, with offices in Denver, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and Washington, DC.
Contributions to The Keystone Center can enable dialogue development on a politically controversial and scientifically complex issue or allow an economically disadvantaged youth to experience nature and science,
for the first time, through guided discovery and research.

"At Keystone Science School, children see snowshoe hare tracks in fresh snow, squirrel middens where food is stored, Engelmann Spruce in sub-alpine, and the odd noisy crow. They identify avalanche trails and cornices on the ridges of the Continental Divide. They continually shout to each other,
Look at that!
Look at that!"
